Dan Ryan was educated at Xaverian Brothers HS and Fordham University in New York. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1961 and was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Dan served as an Infantry Platoon Commander in Vietnam and his decorations include a Purple Heart and a Combat Action Ribbon.
Upon entering duty as an FBI Special Agent in 1969, Dan Ryan served in Washington D.C., Little Rock, AR and Chicago, IL, and worked on Fugitive, Major Theft and Mideast Terrorist Squads receiving numerous commendations for outstanding performance.
In 1975, Dan was appointed as an ATF Special Agent at the Phoenix office and worked as an undercover agent specializing in infiltration of motorcycle gangs and narcotics dealers.
Dan was appointed as a POST certified police officer and worked as a Detective in the Maricopa County Attorney's Office until 1984. He was assigned to Special Operations and Major Felony Bureaus.
Since 1984, Dan has been working as a licensed private investigator and is the owner of his firm, Specialized Investigations.
Dan has been married for 35 years and is the father of two grown daughters. Mrs. Ryan is a high school counselor, one daughter works at the Arizona Department of Agriculture and the other is an Assistant U.S. Attorney. Dan and his wife are founding members of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Scottsdale where they have served in various ministries over the years.
